Core Construction- Carbon Composite Layering: All the available core options for the VX1 PC custom pads are layered with rigid carbon composite, ensuring strong pop and improved long-term durability without adding excess weight.
- Thinned Thigh Rise w/ Stiffer Feel: To ease pad overlap and mobility, the VX1 PC pads' thigh rise features a thinner profile over their predecessor. To keep a tight 5-hole seal, these pads complement their thinner profile with a stiffer flex leading up from the knees to their bindingless top edges.
- Classic Knee Roll Build: Vaughn's Velocity pads distinguish themselves with three flat knee rolls for a classic look while widening these pads' range of rebound response.
- Pro-Spec Domestic Construction: Built to compete at the highest levels, Vaughn's "Pro Carbon" pads, gloves, and blockers are made in London, Ontario and Oxford, Michigan to the same standard as their pro-spec pads.

Boot Construction- Streamlined, QuickSlide Boot: Introduced with the Velocity V9 pads, Vaughn's Velocity VX1 pads feature a more ergonomic, scoop-shaped boot. On the ice, Vaughn's scoop-shaped boot helps the pads to rotate off of the skates faster with reduced binding. Further improving durability and rotation speed, Vaughn's QuickSlide material lines each boot.
- Bungee Toe Ties w/ Velcro®: Compared to traditional skate lace toe ties, bungee toe ties allow for a greater range of motion in the goalie's ankle while keeping the pad properly anchored.

Fit & Strapping- Wide, Recessed Knee Cradle: Compared to the previous V10 pads, the VX1 Pro Carbon pads feature a recessed knee cradle with a thinner top layer at the knee stack. On the ice, this gives the pads room to more-freely rotate above the calves and can accommodate a wider range of knee guards.
- Reactive Rotation Control Plus (RRC+) Calf Strapping: Vaughn's RRC+ calf strapping allows more accurate pad control from the goalie's calves while keeping a looser fit at the knees to improve pad rotation. Compared to the single, professor-style RRC strap found on the VX1 Pro leg pads, the VX1 Pro Carbon Pads' top and bottom RRC+ strapping allows goalies the greatest precision in their pad tuning.
