Construction

Stiff, MAX Core: Reshaped from the Optik 3 pads, Brians' Optik 4 goalie leg pads are built around their MAX core. Above the knee, Brians' MAX core offers their stiffest feel, formed with an aggressive precurve to project a wide, more squared butterfly that holds a rigid 5-hole seal. The stiff thigh of Brians' MAX core is balanced out with a soft, more flexible boot, designed to easily rotate down across an 87° toe taper.

BRI-CORE Tri-axle Carbon-fiber Composite Reinforced Thigh Rise: Brians' MAX core is reinforced at the thigh with a highly rigid, ultra-lightweight carbon-fiber composite to ensure strong, long-lasting rebounds. Additionally, the Optik 4's BRI-CORE reinforcement allows for a thinner thigh rise and core construction without compromising strength, greatly improving pad mobility and overlap.

Inner & Outer Edges

Bindingless Edges w/ Primo-slide Inner: The Optik 4 leg pads highlight their thin profile and smooth on-ice feel with no outer edge or inner gusset bindings. Complementing their bindingless edges, Brian's Primo-Slide wraps the pads' entire inner edge for a unique balance between slide speed and traction.

Thin, No-break Outer Roll: Signature to Brians' Optik pads, the Optik 4 pads feature a rigid outer roll that reinforces their stiff profile and allows for greater visibility when tracking in the puck.

Knee & Boot

Open Knee Cradle: Prioritizing pad rotation and butterfly mobility, the Optik 4 pads’ knee strapping runs from the knee stack down to the outer calf wrap. For those who prefer to strap behind-the-knee to a knee wing/flap, Brian's offers a knee wing/flap as a custom option.

Primo-Slide Boot Lining w/ Internal Lift: Designed to help put the pads down faster, the Optik 4 leg pads' boot is built to sit higher off of the skates. In effect, this positions the pads to hit the ice quicker and reduces binding between the pad's boot and skates.

Strapping

Included Upper Calf Strap (Professor Strap): While optional on the Optik 3 pads, Brian's debuts an adjustable upper calf strapping, included with the Optik 4 leg pads.

3-point Adjustable Calf Wrap: Reshaped from the Optik 3, the Optik 4 leg pads' offer precision pad control with a streamlined inner calf-wrapping. Offering tension adjustment at 3 points across the calf, this calf wrap design allows goalies to fine-tune how the pads rotate and respond at the calves.

Outer-to-Inner Calf Plate Strapping: To help stabilize the calves, the Optik 4 pads' calf plates are each backed with a plush outer calf wrapping that tightens across to its inner counter part. In effect, this allows the primo-wrapped calf plates to stay stable and snug while allowing the calves to rotate.

Smart Cord Bungee Toe Ties: Included standard, Brian's Smart Cord bungee toe ties secure the pads while allowing the skates a greater range-of-motion, improving edge control and reducing lower body strain.

Cuff Construction

40°, Laced-in Break: Familiar to fans of the Optik glove, Brians' 40° break returns with reworked internals to ensure a snappy, full-seal closure. Similar to a 590 break, Brians' 40° break presents a wide pocket to the shooter with a whole-handed, fingers-to-lower-thumb closure.

Wide, Single-T Web: Brian's build their Optik 4 gloves with wide, single-T; offering a snappy, full-seal to secure pucks and complement the glove's 590-like closure. For the goalies who prioritze pocket depth, Brian's offers the Optik 4 glove with a double-T as a custom option.

One-piece, BRI-FUSE Cuff: Part of the internal rework debuting with the Optik 4 glove, Brian's BRI-FUSE cuff-reinforcement is composed of sculpted high-density foams, layered atop with a high-impact, thermo-formed plastic that gives this glove a rigid, yet lightweight core and sharp flare.

Beveled Thumb Shape: At the thumb, the Optik 4 glove's cuff is shaped with an aggressive bevel, designed to funnel pucks into the glove's wide, single-T pocket.

Smooth, Game-ready Palm: Stock, the Optik 4 glove is built for a smooth, game ready closure with Brian's Game Ready palm padding. For additional palm padding, Brian’s Pro Palm (⅛”) and Beef Palm (¼”) are available through Brian's Custom.

Segmented Backhand w/ HD Finger Protection: Segmented padding provides backhand protection without compromising the gloves', snappy, game-ready closure. High Density impact materials are layered over the fingers with a rigid core to offer maximum finger protection.

Fit & Strapping

Hex-Air Floating Inner Cuff: Pads the wrist while creating breathing room to help ventilate heat and channel fresh air into the palm. Lined with a soft, SBA (Synthetic suede), the Hex-Air Cuff compliments the Optik 4 glove's high-tack, embossed suede inner palm, for a luxurious feel with a confident, moisture-resistant grip.

ATOP Smart Dial Strapping: Traditional Velcro® and nylon webbing straps can wear out quickly, and even when fully tightened, slowly lose tension with each move. As an alternative, the ATOP System tightens small, high-strength cables to secure the wrist, click by click, for a perfect fit that won't slip during a game or wear out after a heavy season.

Construction

BRI-FUSE Board Reinforcement: Brian's BRI-FUSE cuff-reinforcement is composed of sculpted high-density foams, layered atop with a high-impact thermo-plastic to give this blocker a rigid, yet lightweight core and long-lasting rebounds.

Flared Board w/ Perimeter Bevelling: Complementing its rigid, high-pop board, the Optik 4 blocker's board is formed with a sharp flare to give rebounds a greater sense of directional control. To further its responsive feel, Brian's shaves excess material around the Optik 4 blocker's board with a gentle bevel, helping to reduce weight without compromising blocker surface area.

Open Backhand: Redesigned from the Optik 3 blocker, Brian's debuts the Optik 4 with the removal of the floating cuff strap in favor of an open backhand. On the ice, this allows the Optik 4 blocker to pivot freely from the wrist while easing its fit adjustment and lightening its overall build.

Protection

High-density Sidewall & Thumb: To protect against stray pucks, the Optik 4 blocker's sidewall is internally laced to reduce flex between the board and its high-density foam construction.

Squared Thumb Opening: Reshaped to improve stick control over the Optik 3 blocker, the Optik 4 blocker's thumb cutout debuts a wider, more squared shape.

Removable Thumb Pillow: Easily removable with a Velcro attachment, a plush thumb pillow offers the option for additional padding between the sidewall and thumb.
